The coolest tracksuit top in the Galaxy

One simple way of telling a proper Star Wars fan apart from a casual connoisseur of the world a long time ago and far, far away is to ask them to name the coolest character.

Part time fans will say Han Solo - Harrison Ford's stuck-up, half-witted, scruffy-looking nerf herder.

And they would be wrong.

Anyone who is anyone knows the single coolest person ever to fire a blaster is the the infamous Mandalorian warrior turned bounty hunter Boba Fett.

So, imagine my excitement when, during a visit to the Adidas Originals store in New York's soho, I clapped my eyes on this little beauty.

Part of the brand's Star Wars range, this natty tracky manages to merge the cool of Star Wars with the street aura of hip hop - and what a result.

As this pics show, the attention to detail is superb - not least the May The Force Be With You lining on the collar.

The neon lining adds a touch of the laser beam to the top, with the black obviously evocative of the darkness inside Fett's soul. Or something like that. Whatever the reason, it looks striking.

As well as the Boba Fett carrying a ghetto blaster image on the left breast, the top also boasts a smart Star Wars / Adidas tie up.

And, last but by no means least, the top also has the bounty hunter's name emblazoned across the back.

Hopefully it will be winging its way to stockists in the UK soon - it is certainly better than some of the, quite frankly, too Americanised and overall disappointing Star Wars offerings already served up by the footwear giants.

Anyone into their Adidas as well as their sci-fi should also keep an eye out for the new grey sweatshirt/Stormtrooper piece and the matching high-top trainers.

That and the rare Rebel Alliance Football Club shirt, complete with Skywalker 7 on the back.
